Where to drive
Left side of the road- Bicycle lanes
Riding on the right side of the road is considered riding against traffic and is prohibited.
If there is a lane designated for regular bicycles, please use that lane.- You can also ride on bicycle paths.
Where you cannot ride
Sidewalks
As a general rule, electric scooters are not allowed on sidewalks.
Bikes may only be ridden on sidewalks when unavoidable.
- Expressways and motor vehicle-only roads
- No driving zone
The area circled in red displayed during the ride is a no-riding zone. Ride on a different road or push on the sidewalk.
How to turn at intersections
When turning right at an intersection, cross it first, then change direction (two-stage right turn).
To make a right turn at a signalized intersection, proceed as follows.
1. Go straight along the far left side of the road.
2. After crossing, turn right.
Even at intersections with this sign, you must perform a two-stage right turn.
If there is no traffic light or stop sign, you do not need to stop at position 2, but pay special attention to other vehicles on the intersecting road and pedestrians, and proceed at a safe speed and in a safe manner.
Always use your turn signal
To prevent accidents, always turn on your blinker when turning right or left.
Signs and road markings to remember
"Except bicycles" includes electric scooters.
On one-way streets with signs accompanied by phrases like "Except bicycles" or "Except light vehicles" as shown in the diagram, both bicycles and electric scooters are permitted.
Always stop at stop signs.
In places where a stop is designated, you must come to a complete stop immediately before the stop line (or immediately before the intersection if there is no stop line).
Do not ride on roads with "No Vehicles" signs.
From the left:
・No parking zones
・No stopping or parking zones
・No vehicle zones
You must not ride on roads that have a "No Vehicles" sign.
When stopping or parking, generally do so along the far left edge of the road, ensuring you do not obstruct other traffic.
Important riding rules and prohibited behaviors
Drunk driving
Even if you've had a small amount of alcohol, you absolutely must not operate the vehicle after drinking.
Tandem driving
Carrying or piggybacking a child is also prohibited.
Carrying luggage
Do not place items on the footboard of the scooter.
Distracted driving
Avoid operating your smartphone, holding an umbrella, or listening to music with earphones while riding.
Sidewalk driving
You cannot ride on sidewalks. Please ride on the road.
All of these are illegal activities.
Riding on sidewalks in prohibited areas, tandem riding, improper parking, drunk driving, re-renting (subleasing), and use by individuals under 16 years old are all illegal activities.
Violators will be severely punished by law and may be subject to penalties such as imprisonment or fines.
